John Curran was born in Kenya in 1920 and educated at the Prince of Wales School, as a Day Boy in Grigg House, from 1934 to 1939.
On leaving School in 1939, John volunteered for the Kenya Regiment , serving in Burma for three years on secondment to the Nyasaland Battalion of the Kings African Rifles.
John married Joy (Felton ) in 1942 and after the War, with their three children, Ann , Ian and David, became prominent and popular members of the Old Cambrian Club ( later to become Impala), excelling in Tennis and Hockey.
John took up his career in Accountancy in East Africa, firstly with the KUR & H and later with the Inland Revenue Department .
With Kenya's Independence, like many, came the move to Adelaide, South Australia in 1965 where the family settled , and where John worked in a large Accounting firm prior to his retirement a number of years ago.
John and Joy enjoyed their retirement, with their three childen, five Grand and seven Great grandchildren, celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary in 2002
John, one of our few remaining KRAA Regimental Veterans, died on the 3rd January, 2003, aged 82.
