On 17th April 2009, Webmaster received an e-mail from Colleen du Toit:
Good day,
Mike (John Michael Barry) Brackin was a pupil at the Prince of Wales School from 1950 to 1952, and was in Clive house
and a boarder.
He died on the 18th November 2004 aged 72 after a short battle with stomach cancer.
He was survived by his wife Margaret Jean Brackin (née Nevin), who sadly passed away on the 10th April 2007.
He also had 4 daughters : Debbie McGreggor & Sharon Tuffeck (from his first marriage) and Pauline Berry & Colleen du
Toit.
After finishing school, Mike joined the Royal Rhodesian Air Force. He was a pilot, examiner and instructor for the
South African Civil Aviation Authority, flew for the UN during the war in Angola and Somalia, and also flew for
private companies. The year that he died he celebrated his 50th anniversary as a pilot.
He left Rhodesia in 1979, and lived in South Africa until his death.
He said that being a pupil at PoW was 3 amazing years.
Warmest Regards,
Colleen du Toit
